The calls for the resignation of West Virginia University President Mike Garrison continued Monday at WVU's Mountainlair where the new group calling itself Mountaineers for a New Administration opened up the microphone to those who wanted to weigh in on Garrison's future at the University.
"I am proud to be a Mountaineer. I know we are all proud to be Mountaineers, but we used to be prouder,"
Student Tim Cooper told the dozens of people who gathered on Monday afternoon.
Students, faculty members, local leaders, WVU Administrators and University President Mike Garrison had all been invited to be part of the rally. Garrison did not attend.
"Even if he was personally responsible or not personally responsible for awarding this degree, he is hurting the University by maintaining his status as President of our University,"
Student Conner Sarles told the crowd.
"Millions of dollars have already been lost. The reputation of our University has suffered and the stature that our students will receive in the community after getting out of this University has been decreased greatly,"
Sarles said.
The rally came days after a meeting of West Virginia University's Board of Governors. Garrison detailed his plans for addressing recommendations from an independent panel during Friday's meeting. The panel concluded Mylan Executive Heather Bresch, Governor Joe Manchin's daughter, was awarded an eMBA last fall that she did not earn.
Garrison and members of the BOG spent hours behind closed doors in Executive Session on Friday afternoon.
WVU's BOG is scheduled to meet again as part of a regular meeting on Friday, June Sixth.
