Mountaineers Perform At Combine
The NFL Scouting Combine is going on in Indianapolis. More than 350 of college football's best are hoping to catch the eye of a pro scout or two. Four Mountaineers were invited to work out, three of them took the field Sunday. Darius Reynaud's day included a time of 4.47 seconds in the 40-yard dash, a 34 and half inch vertical leap, and he was able to bench press 225 pounds 20 times. His vertical leap tied for ninth best among receivers. Steve Slaton was a tad faster than Reynaud, running a 4.44 forty. Steve Slaton's vertical was 33 and a half inches, and he had 19 reps on the bench. As expected, Owen Schmitt was one of the best running backs at the bench, tying for fourth highest with 26 reps. Schmitt running a 4.70 forty, he did not participate in the vertical leap. All times are unofficial, and were reported by the NFL Netwrok during their coverage.
