No. 3 W.Va. Wary of the Denver Broncos Savvy Run Defense
West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez joked the Mountaineers were going to try running out of the wishbone formation.
He won't go that far. But some changes Rodriguez has in mind might come out tomorrow when third ranked West Virginia plays Western Michigan.
All-American running back Steve Slaton and third string quarterback Adam Bednarik have practiced at wide receiver. And fullback Owen Schmitt is listed as the starting tight end.
The Mountaineers will be tested by a Denver Broncos defense that gave up only 76 rushing yards per game a year ago.
Western Michigan will start sophomore Tim Hiller at quarterback. The 2005 Mid-American Conference freshman of the year threw for 20 touchdowns with three interceptions. He missed last season with torn knee ligaments.
