COL FB: Pittsburgh 13, West Virginia 9
MORGANTOWN, W.Va., Dec. 1 (UPI) -- LeSean McCoy ran for 148 yards Saturday as the Pittsburgh Panthers upsets second-ranked West Virginia's 13-9.
Pat Bostick ended 10-of-19 passing for just 67 yards with two interceptions but scored a touchdown for the Panthers (5-7, 3-4 Big East), who used ball control and a strong defense. The major upset gave Coach Dave Wannstedt his biggest win on the day he received a three-year contract extension.
Pat White left the game in the second quarter with a dislocated right thumb, but returned late and tried to rally the heavily favored Mountaineers (10-2, 5-2). Ranked second in the BCS standings heading into the game, Big East champion West Virginia would probably have landed in the title game with a win Saturday.
Steve Slaton was held 11 yards rushing and Pat White went 5-of-10 for 50 yards passing and ran for 41 yards for West Virginia.
