TEXANS LAND A TRIO

Though Houston’s first-round pick, tackle Duane Brown, is unsigned, the Texans have inked three more of their rookies.

Under contract are third-round cornerback Antwaun Molden, third-round running back Steve Slaton, and fifth-round defensive tackle Frank Okam.

We’re intrigued by Slaton, and not simply because we watched him rip through defenses for two of this three seasons at West Virginia University. He is perfectly suited to a zone-blocking system that covets one-cut running backs, and if he can get past whatever it was that limited his production in 2007 (we think he was afraid of getting seriously injured and blowing his payday), he can be very effective at the NFL level.
